CAVALOR SW-Itch has been specially developed for horses susceptible to summer eczema. The summer eczema is caused by an allergic reaction to the saliva of a mosquito, which is mainly active around the sunrise and sunset in the warmer months (from March to October). This allergic reaction causes a constant itching and subsequently the horse begins to scrub. Not all horses are allergic to this mosquito ³, so the reaction from horse to horse is different.
Breeds such as Icelandic horses, Shire, Welsh ponies and Frisians seem to be more susceptible to this allergy, and some pedigrees seem to be more susceptible than others, which shows that the allergic reaction is genetic. Changes in the feed can also influence the reactions. A positive influence can be achieved by restricting the amount of protein and a higher gift of omega 3 fatty acids. Unfortunately there is no miracle cure for the allergy, so it is important to avoid contact with the mosquito. Cavalor SW-itch keeps the culprit away and the itching under control so that your horse does not suffer from permanent itching.
